President Buhari Is Confused Fighting Corruption-Political Analysts

Following the allegation of corruption levied against some members of his cabinet and his plan to investigate them, political analysts have concluded that President Muhammadu Buhaari may have been confused.

The founder Due Process Advocate Mr. Emeka Ugwuonye and Gbola Oba spoke on “Today On STV” on Monday, saying that the president is not equipped enough to fight corruption within his own cabinet.

To them, corruption has been seriously embedded into the lifestyle of some politicians that the president will have to be well equipped to fight them.

“The president is not fully equipped and does not fully seems to understand the problem, what plans, procedures or implementation he needs to put in place if he need to fight corruption among top official in Nigeria system, so that he can effectively deliver his promises.”

The analysts stated that the president seems confused, adding, “He has been talking about the judiciary been his problem, about creating special courts, ordering the investigation of some people, invading people homes, the way the president is fighting corruption it’s just like a campaign slogan continuing after the president won election and the reality of it is that nothing has changed.”

Speaking on the allegations against the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu whom the senate had refused to confirm, the analysts said that the president lacked the intellectual capacity to fight corruption.

 “The structure of corruption and the commitment to the fight against corruption lies not only on the laps of the president but on all Nigerians. The president will fail in the issue of fighting corruption because our intellectual phenomenon to fight corruption is not on the table yet and with all the corruption act like the EFCC act, there are organic reasons why they will fail because the primacy of their operational power of those act is residual in the presidency,” they said.
