The Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a bill proposing 25 years imprisonment for anyone found guilty of forceful takeover of land in the state.
The bill when signed into law, will prohibit forcible entry and occupation of land, violent and fraudulent conducts in relation to land as well as armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and allied matters.
The bill also imposes a five million naira fine or ten years imprisonment for offenders.
There have been incidences of land speculators, popularly called "land grabbers" in the state over a long time.
Many residents had been displaced due to the invasion of land grabbers while many had been killed.
