MAMAs: Mixed Reactions Trail Award Recipients

Mixed reactions have continued to trail the award recipients of the just-concluded 2016 MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA), held Saturday night at Johannesburg. The social media have been flooded with conflicting remarks from fans in countries across Africa. 

On Twitter, handlers have raised eye brow concerning the award category, “Artist of the Year”, which contains nominees such as: Black Coffee (South Africa); Diamond (Tanzania); Sauti Sol (Kenya); Wizkid (Nigeria) – WINNER; Yemi Alade (Nigeria).

According to @KingANAD, the winner of this category was rather too predictable. He puts it: “Only Wizkid can win best male and best artist of the year without even dropping any single in the year”.  

The aforementioned category, which is followed by “Best Female”, contains the following nominees: Josey (Ivory Coast); Mz Vee (Ghana); Tiwa Savage (Nigeria); Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania); Yemi Alade (Nigeria) – WINNER.
