Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has threatened to sue the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission if it fails to recognise Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the party’s candidate for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.
It based its position on the judgement of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which ordered the commission to accept Ibrahim as the authentic candidate of the party in the state.
National secretary of the faction of the party, Professor Wale Oladipo, said it was wrong for INEC to be foot-dragging on the issue.
Meanwhile a coalition of civil society group has met with the INEC to brainstorm on emerging issues and map out strategies to confront identified challenges ahead Ondo State gubernatorial poll.
The meeting was held in abuja amidst reports of a build up of tension and threats coming from various political camps.
