CCT Can Try Saraki, Appellate Court Affirmed

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has again affirmed the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal to try the President of  theSenate Bukola Saraki on assets declaration breaches.

Justice Abdul Aboki-led panel of the appeal court unanimously affirmed the CCT's jurisdiction after dismissing the appeal filed by Senator Saraki challenging his trial before the tribunal.

The court held that contrary to Dr. Saraki’s contention, the Attorney-General of the Federation had the power to institute charges against him before the CCT.

A similar judgment earlier delivered by the court of appeal was validated by the supreme court in February.
